Some Real Deal Haps hit the shop...

So back to my "Pig" story from March when I called Hap while he was on his way to shape a few boards.  The reason the story about the Pig came up is that old friend...let's just call him Neil...wanted a Pig and wanted to see if Hap would shape it.  I figured what the heck...I'll give it a shot. When I called Hap to say hey, he said he was on his way to shape a few boards..."sounds awesome" I said.  "How does someone get on that short list to have a board shaped?"  While Matt makes some of the best boards in the whole industry, this was a chance to have the Master himself shape a few boards for me... heck, Hap's 81 years old...so I jumped at the opportunity.  Matt & Margaret were cool with it and the rest is History.   Hap had stopped shaping about 5 or 6 years back and just recently got back in the shaping bay to shape a few boards & said he would shape me a few.  My good buddy Kenny Pagliaro was kind enough to go over to Hap's shaping room to document things.

To make a long story a little less long, the first 3 boards arrived at the shop today and look unreal!

2012 -Spring Swap goes off...awesome Day!

Messenger...making sure all is good.

Yesterday was our 10th Annual Old School Board Swap...and what a day it was.  Close to 200 boards were on display out in front of the Beach House...and down the side and around the back.  Plenty of Classics from Hobies & Hansens to Greg Nolls & Casters, along with a slew of modern classics from Mitsven Mini Simmons & Campbell Brothers Bonzers to a Bing Gold Standard.  The only thing better than the board selection was the group of people that came out to enjoy the day and soak in what's becoming an integral part of New Jersey Surf Culture.

Thanks to everyone that came out to help, everyone that brought boards or bought boards and to all those that stopped in to make it another awesome day.  Special thanks to Harry for bringing the best coffee available on earth, to Janine from Cater Couture for bringing some unreal lunchtime eats and to the Christian Surfers for their help and the awesome vibe.  Here's to the next boardswap...coming up in September.
